Now through March 31, Jackson Nurse Professionals and sister company, Jackson Therapy Partners will be collecting the pop tabs off of aluminum cans for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Florida as part of the 2012-2013 School Pop Tab Recycling Contest, presented by WKMG-TV/LOCAL 6 and Central Florida McDonald’s.
Pop tabs will be collected from participating schools and corporations, weighed, and the number of pounds collected will be translated into dollars and donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Florida to help families with sick children. This program not only helps raise funds and awareness for the Ronald McDonald Houses, but also encourages community engagement and recycling.
Since 1996, the RMHCCF Pop Tabs program has collected over 80 tons of pop tabs and raised over $120,000 to benefit the children and families staying at the two Ronald McDonald House locations in Orlando.
About RMHCCF:
Located on land donated by Florida Hospital, families of critically ill children turn to the Ronald McDonald Houses in Orlando when their children are hospitalized or receiving treatment at area medical facilities. The purpose of the Ronald McDonald House of Orlando is to provide a "home-away-from-home" for families in medical crisis. Before the Ronald McDonald Houses, being with a hospitalized child meant parents were sleeping in their cars or in chairs in the waiting room, eating out of vending machines, or bearing the expense of impersonal hotel rooms. Today, the Ronald McDonald House program is now two Houses strong with 59 bedroom and more than 200 volunteers to serve families in medical crisis with an ill child. They are open 24-7-365 to provide families with a safe haven close by the hospital, so that they can focus on the wellness of their child.
The survey was conducted online from October through November, 2012. Invitations for the survey were emailed to nurses who have been placed by Jackson Healthcare staffing companies and those who have not. Respondents were self-selected with 969 respondents completing the survey. The error range for this survey at the 95th percent confidence level is 3.1 percent.
